McLEOD, John

  General Notes:

John was born August 21, 1900 according to his death certificate. (HM0019) This explains why he doesn't appear in the 1900 Kingsley census which was carried out in June of that year.

However, neither does he appear in the 1910 census with his mother Lily and family (FM354d) although he would have been about 10 at the time. It is not known why.

He show up finally in the 1920 census as age 19 and living with his mother Lily in The Dalles. (FM354g)

McNeal's History of Wasco County says John was a WWI veteran who died single. (HM0006s)
His obituary says he had served two years in the Hospital Corps in WWI and was a member of the Hood River chapter of the American Legion. (FM371g)
He died age 33 of endocarditis and is buried in The Dalles IOOF cemetery.(HM0019)
