We next find him applying for US citizenship in Wasco County Oregon in July 1888 (HM0003b) and married with wife Gertrude in the 1900 Kingsley census(FM334b), 1910 Kingsley census (FM354a), 1920 census for The Dalles (FM354b) and 1930 census for The Dalles (FM354c).
His life as a successful farmer is well documented in three well known publications:

A number of small discrepancies occur between the articles but nothing too noteworthy.
He had a 200 acre ranch on the Tygh Ridge which he called the Harmony Ranch on which he raised his family till retiring to The Dalles in 1913. He served as Mayor of The Dalles from 1917 - 1919.
Gertrude passed away and William remarried Flora C. ?
He had no offspring.
His residence at time of death 1002 E 12 st. The Dalles, Ore. Age at death, 79 years 10 months 11 days. Flora passed away about a year later.

Marriage Notes:
William married Gertrude Badger on July 4, 1899. They operated the 200 acre 'Harmony Ranch' till retiring to The Dalles in 1913. Gertrude passed away at the age of 60 in 1935. The couple had no children.
William later married Flora C. ? and they both lived till close to 80.
William next married Flora Clara UNKNOWN. (Flora Clara UNKNOWN was born in 1875 and died on 12 Dec 1948 in Wasco County, Oregon, USA.)

Marriage to Flora C. who was to survive him. William is buried with Flora while Gertrude, his first wife, is buried with his mother, Annie Hunter, nearby in the IOOF cemetery in The Dalles.
