1852 Catherine Finlayson is shown as a single person aboard the Brig Highland Lass (FM323)
Left Cape Breton in May 17,1852 on the "Highland Lass", a ship built at Baddeck River, Cape Breton. She sailed with 136 passengers, arriving Adelaide Au. Oct. 6, 1852. She sailed on the "Gazelle" from Adelaide on Sept. 2, 1853, with 90 of the "Highland Lass" passengers and 19 from the "Margaret", arriving in Aukland that year.
3July 1899 Letter from Catherine in Leigh to sister Anne Hunter in Oregon. Catherine states she broke her leg above the ankle abt 1897, leaving her lame since (she tripped on the dog). (FM056)
Catherine married Captain Duncan MATHESON, son of Ewen MATHESON and Isabella CAMERON, on 17 Aug 1858 in Omaha, New Zealand. (Captain Duncan MATHESON was born on 20 Mar 1822 in Lochalsch, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland, died on 29 Mar 1882 in Auckland, New Zealand and was buried in Auckland, New Zealand.) The cause of his death was Accidental Injuries.
