bullet  General Notes:

FM001b
"Jennie or Jessie married a ' Dion' was the oldest. She had one son Joseph who lived for 8 years here (Plummer) before Ernie's father was married (1890). He visited here in 1937."

FM090 from Margery McKay, wife of Jessie's nephew, Ernie states
Jessie's son, Joseph was brought to his grandmothers by his Aunt Belle when his mother lost her life in the Chicago Fire (1871).
however
FM339 ( pg2 of History) Letter from Myrtle Stringer
States 'Dionne' "disappeared" in the Chicago Fire.

FM194b
This second alternate appears more correct, as Janet or 'Jessie' appears with her parents, aged 29, in the 1881 Census, with a 7 yr old boy named James Dine. (could this be son 'Joseph'?) This would roughly fit with the FM001b comment that the son stayed with the grandparents for 8 years before 1890.(see above)

FM408d
the Michigan marriage records show a Jennie McKay marrying a Joseph Dion in 1873 which is after the Chicago fire. Could the father have been lost in another fire? We suspect this is our Jennie as the marriage took place in Saginaw and is on the same page as that of her sister, Isabel to Moses Leyerer. We know from FM090b that Belle and Moses lived in Saginaw.

FM 412
Suggests that Jessie's sister Christie was actually the eldest.

bullet  Noted events in her life were:

• 1851 Census: John McKay family Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. FM485
John age 29, labourer, born Cape Breton
Mary A his wife, age 28, born Cape Breton
a female infant born Canada in the past year.

• 1861 Census: John McKay family enumeration Kincardine, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. JB089a
Shows John McKay, a farmer born Scotland of the Free Church age 42 and married. Living with Mary Anne, age 38, Janet, age 10, Christina, age 8, Isabella, age 6 Catherine and Donald, age 4. living in a one story log house.
(this agrees with age of Janet/Jessie from 1851 Census)

• 1873: Marriage: Jessie to Joseph Dion, Saginaw, Michigan, USA. FM408D
Michigan marriage records show Jennie McKay marrying a Joseph Dion in 1873 which is after the Chicago fire. This is possible not our Janet but is on the same page as Isabel McKay who married Moses Leyerer which fits for Janets sister, Isabel.

• 1881 Census: 1881 census with her parents and a 7 yr old boy named James Plummer, Algoma, Ontario, Canada. FM194B
Janet or 'Jessie' appears with her parents, aged 29, in the 1881 Census, with a 7 yr old boy named James Dine. This may or may not be our Janet. We understand her son's name was Joseph, not James and it states that this boy was born in Scotland which may or may not be true.

Janet married Joseph DION in 1873 in Saginaw, Michigan, USA.

bullet  Marriage Notes:

FM408D
Michigan marriage records show a Jennie McKay marrying a Joseph Dion in 1873 in Saginaw, Michigan. On the same page is and Isabel McKay marrying a Moses H. Leyerer in 1880 in Saginaw. It is known that Jessie's sister married a Moses with a similar-sounding surname (FM090b- suggested name ' Laird') and that they lived in Saginaw, Michigan.
