22 December 1823 - FM044 PEI baptismal records from the PEI wandering clergy show Mary Ann as born 22 Dec 1823 and 19 Aug 1824, baptized: Parents listed were John Finlayson and Christy Cameron of 'Braddeck' Cape Breton.
FM004 and FM090 According to grandson, Ernie McKay she is buried in Finlayson cemetary, Plummer Twp. The Finlayson cemetary markers in Plummer were destroyed by fire. FM004 amd FM482 Location of cemetery near Rock Lake given. NB The Finlayson cemetary was named for a different family of Finlaysons.
FM024 In a letter/family history provided by Myrtle Stringer, Oct. 30, 1971, Mary Ann, Ann (Myrtle's Grandmother), and Catherine Finlayson were all said to be sisters.)

Living with Mary Anne, age 38, Janet, age 10, Christina, age 8, Isabella, age 6 Catherine and Donald, age 4. living in a one-story log house. NB this would make Mary Ann's dob 1823 agreeing with other dates.

FM433 Mortgage dated 20 Mar 1877 payable to Canada Permanent Loan and Savings Company for $600.00, interest rate at 8.5%, and witnessed by John Jarrell. This mortgage is a result of a crown deed. Signatures of John Jarrel, John McKay, and MaryAnn made her mark.
• 16 Jun 1879: Land Sale: Con 6 Lot 11 to James and Sara Jarrell, Kincardine Twp, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. FM434 Indenture by John and MaryAnn McKay Dated 16 Jun 1879, Property of Conc 6, Lot 11 sold to James Jarrell for $1000.00.
• 1881 Census: John McKay family Algoma, Ontario, Canada. FM194b The Algoma census shows a 56 year old John (note that 20 years ago in the 1861 census he was 42?) with wife, Mary McKay, age 55 (38 in 1861) with three of their children, Jannet 29 (10 in 1861), Christina 27 (8 in 1861) and Daniel 23 (perhaps should read 'Donald' who was 4 in 1861) living in Plummer. There is also a 'James Dine age 7' who could possibly be eldest daughter, Janet's son, Joseph Dione. Note: according to Christina's memoirs, she was married in 1871 and would have been in the west when this census was taken. Catherine married in 1879 and was living back in Kincardine so her absence makes sense.
