Per FM097: RW McLeod was a sergeant in the NW Mounted Police, stationed in Ft. Vermilion, Alberta in 1909. The reference describes a patrol report, with descriptions of the countryside and the life of these times.

Per FM096: Supervisor of Fisheries for 22 years until June, 1946
Last residence: 1112 Como Lake Road, District of Coquitlam, BC.

FM121 gives burial in Forest Lawn Cemetary, Burnaby. Two attached obituaries say he was cremated.

FM122: lived in BC for 30 years, last known address Como Lake Road, Coquitlam, BC
Age at death 70 yrs, 8mos. 10 days.

FM124b: Gives career as 25 years with NW Mounted Police, which became the RNWMP in 1905 and later RCMP. He served in eastern Saskatchewan for a time and joined the First Canadian Mounted Rifles to serve in the South African War from 1899 to 1902 . Returning to the force, he assisted in opening up the Peace-Yukon Pack Trail from 1905 to 1907 and in 1908 explored and administered justice in the Peace River country. In 1925 he transferred to the Fisheries Dept. and in 1929 was posted to New Westminster. Also a veteran of the first World War, having served with the Siberian Expeditionary Force in the Canadian Cavalry.

FM126a: RCMP Regiment Number 3238.

FM127: At time of enlistment in NWMP his occupation was a farmer in Moosimin.
FM340i Leslie Peck says there may be evidence that Robert did not give correct DOB while enlisting in NWMP

• He worked as a Northwest Mounted Police Officer, joining in 1898. He served for 25 years with them.

• Enlist in Army: Joined 2nd Contingent of Canadian Forces and served in the South African (Boer) War, 1899-1901.

• Transfer: to Fort Vermilion Alberta, 1908.

• He was engaged to Isabella Simpson on 30 Apr 1911 in Fort Vermilion, Alberta.

• He served in the military with the RCMP contingent in Oct 1918 in Vladivostok, Russia.
