List of Emigrants aboard the Spray included Margaret Finlayson who was age 18. This would make her DOB about 1839. (FM224a)
Margaret's headstone has her passing on 8 October 1902 at an age of 74. This would make her DOB abt 1828. (FM245b) This is a considerable difference from the Emigrant list.
Noted events in her life were:
• She immigrated from Cape Breton aboard brigantine 'Spray' in 1857 to Waipu, New Zealand. Passenger list shows Margaret as being 18 on the voyage. Other information we have on her DOB would have her being 29.
Margaret married Murdoch McLEOD, son of Reverend Norman McLEOD and Mary McLEOD, in 1867 in Waipu, New Zealand. (Murdoch McLEOD was born about 1823 in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, died on 3 Dec 1887 in Waipu, New Zealand and was buried in Waipu, New Zealand.)
