Donald married Christina (Christy) MATHESON, daughter of Ewen MATHESON and Isabella CAMERON, on 1 Jan 1861. (Christina (Christy) MATHESON was born in 1831 in Lochalsch, Ross And Cromarty, Scotland, died on 23 Feb 1917 in Waipu, New Zealand and was buried in Feb 1917 in Waipu, New Zealand.)

• They immigrated sailed aboard the "Margaret" from Cape Breton in 1851 to Australia. Accompanied Norman McLeod, and eventually went to NZ from Australia. Donald was not a strict adherant to the Rev. Norman McLeod group, but Christina insisted.
