bullet  General Notes:

1823, 1829, 1830 Baptism Records of the Travelling clergy

We first find Christina's name in print as John Finlayson's spouse in the records of the travelling clergy of PEI which documents the births and baptisms for three of the children of John Finlayson and Christy Cameron of "Braddeck" - Mary Ann born 22 Dec 1823, Catherine born 05 Jun 1829)and William born 26 Sep 1830.
(FM044) or can be found at the following URL:

22 Dec 1856
Christina has made her mark on a letter also signed by several of her children regarding a sum of stolen money. (FM058)

1857
Christina Finlayson is found on the list of Emigrants aboard the Spray which set forth for NZ the 10th of January 1857. She is 57 (?) years old on the manifest which would make her DOB about 1800. (FM224a)
Her grave has her age 85 on her year of passing (1875) (FM241c) which would make her DOB about 1790.
Her death record (FM283c) has her as age 84 in 1875 making a dob abt 1791.
So we have a range of anywhere from 1790 -1800 for her year of birth.

She is also mentioned as being on the Spray in "To The Ends of the Earth Norman MacLeod and the Highlanders Migration to Nova Scotia and New Zealand": Page 255: "Widows who Accompanied Their Sons - Spray - : Christina(Cameron) widow of John Finlayson and grandmother of J.J. and Norman Finlayson. Died 18 November 1875 aged 85."

The Words "Heaven be with you" are the words used by Christina to her husband John, every time he left or came home. (from Letter from M.C. Finlayson, 1952, FM077)
