General Notes:
The Tookes, Jarrells, and Burtons were resident in Wilmot Township, Waterloo County, before moving north to Kincardine. In the 1851/52 Ontario Census, James and Sarah Jerrel and their children Elizabeth, John, and Mary are shown living in a log house in the township. They are living with John and Elizabeth Burton (age 65 and 57 respectively).
John and Elizabeth appear in the 1861 Kincardine Twp. census (aged 78 and 70) but this time separate from the Jarrels.

• He appeared on the census in 1861 in Kincardine, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. JB089e John Burton, farmer born England, Church of england age 78 and married
John married Elizabeth UNKNOWN. (Elizabeth UNKNOWN was born about 1791 in Norfolkshire, England.)

• 1861 Census: Francis Collins family enumeration Kincardine, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. JB089e Lists John and Elizabeth Burton. Poor quality of copy. Appears that the Burtons are living with family of Francis Collins in a one story log house.
